NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
