No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he loved betting on various card games when he was young. He found himself becoming very aggressive in these card games as he was playing his dad. After finishing high school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a bit and moved away to New York to compete in some big-time chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were rough as he played countless hours and lose most times. He earned some additional cash by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he might improve his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to acquire more sleep and focus even more on the game.

The definite advancement in his game happened when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best gamblers would often wager against one another. He was able to access a number of the best players in chess. With their help, he would hone his cunning thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategy concepts to the game of NL Texas Holdem.

He also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie was a superb student of the game as she would consistently be asking questions about the right way to make the proper choice. He told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and compete in the WSOP competition. Annie is one of the greatest women players the poker arena has ever seen. Howard Lederer relocated to Sin City in 1993 and participated in cash games for the next 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
