Pai Gow Poker is a current game with ancient origins. Built on the ancient Chinese tile game and the current American version of poker, Pai Gow poker marries the eastern with the western in an excellent game for beginner level gamblers.
Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the player versus the casino, unlike the majority of other poker games that players bet against other gamblers. By competing against the dealer, starting players don’t have to worry about other, more experienced players taking their cash.
A further Pai Gow advantage is the relatively leisurely game pace, beginners are able to take their time and strategize while not needing to make hasty choices.
It’s also easier to bet on for a long time with basically a little bit of money since, to not win, both of your hands must be under both of the houses hands.
Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the regular 52-card standard deck and one joker. The player is assigned 7 cards faces showing and the croupier gets 7 cards faces hidden.
A five card hand and a two card hand must be made from the seven cards, the 5 card hand has to be better than the 2 card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand values to be better than the casino’s.
