Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
