Poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, arcs back in reality a bit farther than its television scores. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with blackjack than old guard poker, in that the players wager against the house instead of the other players. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or other kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the dealer and of course every one of the different players are given 5 cards. After you have seen your hand and the dealer’s first card, you must in turn make a call wager or accede. The call wager’s value is akin to your original ante, meaning that the risks will have doubled. Giving Up means that your bet goes instantaneously to the dealer. After the bet is the conclusion. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, plus an amount equal to the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The casino pony’s up money equal to your bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These odds are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for 2 pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- twenty to one for a four of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
