Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the last game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found playing online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
