No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
