Caribbean Poker Codes and Tricks

Poker has become world celebrated as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its television scores. Over the years many variants on the earliest poker game have been created, including some games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to twenty-one than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or other kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the dealer announcing "No more bets." At that moment, both you and the bank and of course all of the different players attain five cards. After you have observed your hand and the dealer’s initial card, you have to either make a call bet or give up. The call wager’s amount is akin to your original wager, which means that the risks will have doubled. Giving Up means that your bet goes instantly to the house. After the wager comes the face off. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus a sum on par with the ante. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The bank pays out cash even with your original bet and controlled odds on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
