NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
